Kent’s Transfer Station is located on Maple Street (Route 341 East) and is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Access to the transfer station is by permit only. The permit is valid only for the delivery of personal household garbage generated in the town of Kent.
Recycling items, as defined below, must be placed in the specified areas. Recycling as much as possible will help to keep transfer station costs down.

Changes at the Transfer Station
The long awaited arrival of single stream recycling has finally come to the Kent Transfer Station. What this means is that the consumer has to do less sorting. It will now be done
at the end. Starting immediately we will be accepting recyclables as follows:
* All paper,cardboard,magazines,newspaper,cereal boxes,phone books, paperbacks will
now be recycled together in what was the cardboard compactor.
* All cans,bottles ,plastics # 1-7, aerosol cans, juice cartons, etc will be recycled together
as co-mingle. We ask that you try to keep deposit containers separate for the
KCS Scholarship Fund. And please rinse food containers.
* Garbage is still taken as before.
We call this semi single stream and feel it will work best for our facility at this time. All these
items will be trucked to a facility in Willimantic where they will be sorted.
See the operation at www.williwaste.com
Please pass the word. It is now easier than ever to recycle and half the price of curb-side
pickup.
This fee is prorated.
The office is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If you wish to apply by mail, you must include a self-addressed stamped return envelope along with your application and check and mail it to the Selectmen’s Office, P.O. Box 678, Kent, CT 06757.
